INFORMATION FOR CONTRIBUTORS
Guidelines for submission of articles are presented here

RCEI invites contributions of articles in such fields as linguistics, literature, critical theory, and history within the English Philology. Manuscript submissions for both "Special Feature" or "Miscellany" sections, presented in English between 4,000 and 5,000 words, should conform to the guidelines found in the latest Modern Language Association Style Manual.  For a concise guide to using the MLA style, please visit the MLA Style Sheet site, and for further specific instructions on style contact the RCEI editorial office.

As is traditional academic practice, RCEI only publishes (blind) peer-reviewed essays.  In RCEI "double blind" peer review, neither the author nor the reviewers know each others' identities. Please submit the printed copies, with your name on  the front page but not anywhere else in the manuscript. Send your contributions as Word-format attachment to rceing@ull.es and mail three double-spaced, point 12 printed copies with wide margins to RCEI postal address.  Titles of the essays should be centered and two short abstracts (about 100 words) in English and Spanish are required, along with the key words of the essay in English and Spanish. Authors are expected to provide their academic affilation.

Any acknowledgments must appear as an initial, unnumbered note.  Footnotes, numbered consecutively throughout the manuscript, must be, in the case of quoted material, after the punctuation mark (indented quotes) or the quotation marks. Digressive or excessively lengthy footnotes should be avoided. Subsequent references to a previously cited work require only the author’s last name but in the case of previous citations to more than one work by the same author, a title must appear (as is clear, op.cit. is not to be used).

Also RCEI does publish a "Notes Section," in which submissions should be around 1,800-2,500 words. We also encourage reviews on academic books within English studies discipline, presented in English between 1000 and 1,500 words; documentation should conform to the guidelines for manuscript presentation outlined by the latest MLA Style Manual. Return of manuscripts cannot be expected unless accompanied by a self-addressed envelope and return postage in Spanish stamps or International Reply Coupons. Your cooperation with these guidelines will make the production of RCEI go more quickly and smoothly. Each RCEI issue contains a "Special Feature" section devoted to a single topic selected by the guest-editors. The Editorial Committee reserves the right to introduce stylistic changes and to adjust illustrations.

Each contributor should send a note stating specifically her/his manuscript is only being considered for publication with
Revista Canaria de Estudios Ingleses. Authors may republish their own material, provided such republication provides due acknowledgment.

We will proofread your work in order to check the usual elements of spelling, typography, grammar, syntax and punctuation. As well as this, we offer style and layout advice and will also check title and section headings for index correlation and numerical accuracy. Once proofreading is completed you will be provided with two copies of your text, if required.

The average time that the RCEI editorial staff takes to publish an essay submitted to this journal is 8 months of straight work, from reading to accepting, editing, proofreading, and finally to print. Our reviewers are senior faculty, including members of RCEI Editorial Board, and those who have successfully been published in our journal or elsewhere. Average time between submission and acceptance: 5 months. Average time between acceptance and publication: 3 months. An average 60% of manuscripts submitted to RCEI are accepted for publication.

Editorial correspondence  and all copies of books to be considered for reviews should be addressed to the Editor, RCEI, Departamento de Filología Inglesa y Alemana, Facultad de Filología, Universidad de La Laguna, Campus de Guajara, 38071 La Laguna, Tenerife, Islas Canarias, España. Decisions on articles submitted are normally made within three months and those accepted published within a year.  RCEI is published twice yearly, in April and November.
