What is AELFE? AELFE is an association of European University professors specialised in languages for specific purposes. Founded in 1992, its objective is that of fostering and promoting both the research into and teaching of modern languages as regards their applications to science and technology.

In order to carry out these objectives whilst at all times working within the boundaries laid down by current legislation, the Association shall be able to:
  • Organise congresses, seminars, conferences, workshops, contests and any type of meeting of a cultural or scientific nature.
  • Publish any type of material directly related to the objectives as set out by the Association, be it printed (magazines, books, information sheets, etc.), or graphic or audiovisual (tapes, videos, films, etc.).
  • Establish, in conjunction with other bodies, agreements or contracts that contribute to a more effective promotion of the Association’s objectives
The main characteristics of our Association are as follows:
  • All members must pertain to the university sector.
  • The Association includes professors of all the relevant applied modern languages.
The activities carried out by the Association are the following:
  • The holding of an Annual General Meeting at which all members shall have the right to be heard and to vote.
  • The publication of an informative bulletin to be distributed amongst all members several times throughout the year.
  • The holding of an Annual Technical Open Day.
  • The publication of an annual magazine.
The Association’s registered office is within the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (Madrid University of Applied Sciences), Departamento de Lingüística aplicada a la Ciencia y la Tecnología (Department of Science and Technology Applied Languages). Our address is as follows:

Who are we? The 8th International AELFE Conference is organised by Lecturers in Languages for Special Purposes (LSP) belonging to the Departments of English and German Studies y French and Romance Languages Studies at the University of La Laguna (ULL).

The place designated as the Conference venue is the School of Business Sciences (EUCE). In this School, both in the BSc degree in Business Administration and in that of 
Tourism, the three languages for special purposes (LSP) officially  taught in ULL degrees, namely: German, French and English, are represented.
